Wildflower Country Club Tennis | Temple, Texas -- With the possibility of being eliminated from the USTA State Tri-Level Tournament on Saturday, the Wildflower Women's Tennis team dug deep and fought hard securing their spot in the finals and competing for 1st Place on Championship Sunday.
Captained by Cassandra Allen, the team was set to compete against Team Amarillo for the USTA State Championship at 11:00am. The matches are made up of 3 different NTRP Levels, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0.The team needs to win 2 out of 3 of the matches to secure a win.
Team Wildflower picked up a win to secure one line, as did Amarillo. The score was now tied 1-1 with the championship coming down to one more match.
After 2 hard fought sets, Amarillo took the 3rd set winning 10-8 in a third set tie breaker winning by only 2 points.
Out of 25 qualified tennis teams that competed in this State Tournament, Wildflower secured a 2nd place win making them the 2nd best team in the State of Texas.
